Class Information
Students pursuing a Certificate of Completion for the Nurse Aide Program will receive all instruction indicated in the Mississippi Nurse Aide Curriculum. Students will perform and complete classroom assignments and skills in the classroom with the instructor. Class assignments will be located in the course syllabus. The Nurse Aide program is a comprehensive course designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to the provision of basic care to patients and residents in hospitals and long-term care facilities. Graduates of this program will be able to communicate and interact effectively with patients, assist patients in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence, while observing patient rights. They will learn how to perform basic first aid, CPR, take vital signs, apply the elements of basic nutrition in meal planning, and follow infection prevention measures. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment as a nurse aide with hospitals and nursing homes.
Requirements
- Be at least 17 years of age.
- Complete the
application and pay the $75.00 non-refundable fee.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Cannot be listed as unemployable due to a finding of neglect or similar misconduct on the Mississippi Nurse Aide Registry and cannot have been convicted of a criminal offense as listed in Mississippi Code Rule § 16-1-45.16.3.
- Provide evidence of immunization against MMR, Tetanus, and Hepatitis B, as well as a negative tuberculosis screen.
- Provide a copy of your Driver's License or other state or federal government-issued photo ID.
- Provide a copy of your Social Security Card
- Provide proof of prior secondary or post-secondary education (high school transcript and/or diploma, GED, or college transcript and/or diploma).
- Provide a current BLS/CPR card (may be taken at Journey Medical Training Center).
- Provide further proof of immunization and pass a urinalysis drug screening if needed for the clinical site.
- Computer access and Internet access (cannot have only phone access).
- Access to Google Classroom, Zoom, and WhatsApp.
- Textbook and Workbook (provided by Journey Medical Training Center).
- Optional $75.00 Lab Kit may be purchased from the school for demonstration of required nurse aide skills.
Payment Plan Options
There is a 10% interest charge for the payment plan bringing tuition cost to $1,320.00. Final tuition payment must be made no later than the last day of class. (Grades or Certificate of Completion will not be released until all financial obligations have been met.)
